If you've never grown mushrooms before, this is the place to start. We've left out all the technical stuff to leave you with you a practical guide for growing mushrooms at home. We recommend starting with a grow kit, and once you're successful, you can explore more advanced techniques.
Where to Begin?
Your grow will start with either a spore or liquid culture syringe and a mushroom growing kit.
Gourmet and medicinal mushrooms generally come in the form of a liquid culture syringe, if you’re looking for something more exotic or therapeutic these require a spore syringe; these are easy to find with a quick Google search.
We offer kits for all types of mushrooms. Each kit includes everything needed for your mushrooms to thrive in one convenient bag. The kit you choose depends on the species you're growing, as different species require different substrates. We've included a simple grow kit selection guide at the bottom of this page to help you choose the right one.
What Do I Need?
- 10ml spore syringe or liquid culture syringe of your chosen species
- Mushroom growing kit
What Now?
Once you have your syringe and grow kit, it's time to start growing! Follow these basic steps:
- Inject the 10ml syringe into your grow kit.
- Place the kit in a warm, dark environment.
- Wait until the kit is completely white (fully colonised).
- Move it to a warm place with ambient light, but not direct sunlight.
- Watch the mushrooms appear!
Some species may require additional steps, like cutting the top off the bag or making an X in the side of the bag.
