Inject & Forget Instructions
Inoculation & Incubation
Time: 3-6 Weeks depending on species
- Remove the plastic cap from your syringe and attach the needle. Keep the cap on the needle.
- Wipe the injection port (black circle) with the alcohol swab provided.
- Remove the cap from the needle and inject 10 ml of your chosen species of mushroom spores or liquid culture through the injection port.
- Place in a dark warm place (usually around 25°C - see table below for more information) until the bag is completely white - this means it is fully colonised and ready to fruit.
Fruiting
Time: Depends on species - see table below for more information
Once your kit is fully colonised it is ready to put into fruiting conditions.
- Depending on the species you are growing you will need to either cut the top off the bag or cut an X into the side of the bag with a sharp knife and place it somewhere with natural light - not in direct sunlight. Listed below are the ideal conditions for various species of mushrooms and which side to cut the bag.
- Lightly spray (1-2 pumps from around 10cm away) the exposed substrate with water twice a day until you see small mushrooms (also known as pins) form on the surface.
- Sit back and watch the magic happen.
Harvest
Once your mushrooms have fully formed it is time to harvest, simply cut or twist your mushrooms off and enjoy!
Soak
You can get an extra 1-3 flushes from your grow kit by removing the substrate from the bag and soaking it in water overnight and placing it back into fruit conditions as listed above.
Discard
Once your kit has stopped producing mushrooms you can discard the bag or add the substrate to your garden or compost.
